NPAC Wins $10,000 in Glee Give a Note Contest

2011 has been a very rewarding one for the Nanakuli High and Intermediate School Performing Arts Center (NPAC). The NPAC gave 55 performances over the last 12 months, went on a trip to London and Scotland to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, was featured in a PBS Hawaii documentary, and on December 14, received news that the NPAC was one of 60 schools nationwide to be awarded $10,000 in the Glee Give a Note video contest.

The Glee Give a Note contest began three months ago and was a way to help school music and fine arts classes to offset budget cuts. The contest required schools to submit a 2 minute video and these videos were posted on-line for the public vote for one month. The videos with the highest number of votes in their respective regions, moved on to the finals where a panel composed of National Association for Music Education (NAfME) conducted a final round of judging and, together with the public vote, determined the winning programs.
