MAYOR CALDWELL ANNOUNCES TOWN HALL MEETING SCHEDULE

 

Honolulu – Today, Mayor Caldwell announced a series of six town hall meetings that will be held across Oahu during the month of May. The meetings will include updates on the Mayor’s priorities and how they are addressed in the budget, and touch on issues specific to each community.  The Mayor will be joined by cabinet members to provide information and field questions relating to his top priorities of fixing our roads, restoring TheBus service, investing in our sewer infrastructure, beautifying our parks, building rail better, and addressing homelessness.

 

All meetings will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the schedule is as follows:

www.hawaiirestoration.com – George Cleveland, grandson of President Grover Cleveland, will visit Hawaii August 30 through September 5 as part of the Pacific Justice and Reconciliation Center’s Grover Cleveland – Queen Lili‘uokalani Education Project, in honor of Queen Lili‘uokalani’s birthday Sept. 2 and St. Andrew’s 150th Anniversary.

This visit will promote the legacy and history of both Queen Lili‘uokalani and President Cleveland, which is vital and dynamic for today and the future.

HONOLULU – Rep. Kymberly Marcos Pine issued the following statement in response to today’s announcement that The Queen’s Medical Center has been approved to purchase the former Hawaii Medical Center-West facility:
 
“It is great news for the Leeward Coast that the process is moving forward to resume medical care to the hospital. I welcome Queen’s to our community and look forward to the new owners restoring services as quickly as is safely possible. For the sake of our people, I ask Queen’s to do everything in its power to especially expedite the process of reopening the facility's emergency room portion. The Leeward Coast simply can’t afford another year of compromised emergency services.”

The Queen's Medical Center announced earlier this month that it plans to have the entire facility reopened in August 2013.

Following the first successful candidate forum held last month, West Oahu Community Organizations are presenting their second candidate forum featuring Congressional District 2 candidates including Mufi Hanneman, Esther Kia`aina, Bob Marx, and Tulsi Gabbard (not confirmed) on Wednesday, July 11 from 7-8 pm at Hale Pono`i, Kapolei, Hawaii.

This event will be simulcast LIVE on `Olelo, Ho`ike, Na Leo and Akaku.  O`ahu, Kaua`i, and Hawai`i Island residents can view the program on Channel 52.  Maui County residents can view the program on Channel 54.
