EWA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Police arrested a man for attempted murder after he allegedly pointed a loaded gun at his girlfriend early Saturday at an Ewa Beach residence.

Police responded to the home at Mihoku Street after a 28-year-old woman called 911 at about 12:50 a.m. According to authorities, a 30-year-old man had pointed the gun at her and pulled the trigger, but the gun didn't discharge. The man then reloaded the gun and pointed the weapon at his own head, but did not fire.

Authorities said the woman managed to escape from the home with her four-year-old daughter, but a seven-year-old daughter remained in the home with the man.

The suspect remained in the home for four hours before police were able to arrest him.
