VERIZON WIRELESS EXPANDS AMERICA’S LARGEST 4G LTE NETWORK ON O‘AHU AND HAWAI‘I ISLAND ON OCT. 18

Verizon Wireless announced that customers in more areas of the state of Hawai‘i will be able to experience the blazingly fast speeds and capabilities of America’s largest 4G LTE network when the company expands the service on O‘ahu and Hawai‘i island on Oct. 18. With the introduction of the network in 23 new markets and expansion in 41 existing markets, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network is now available in more than 410 markets across the United States, surpassing its previously announced goal of providing its mobile broadband service in 400 markets by the end of this year. The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network covers roughly 4 out of 5 people in the U.S. – and more 4G LTE coverage than all other networks combined. 

Verizon Wireless first launched its 4G LTE network in the state of Hawai‘i in July 2011.  The expanded 4G LTE coverage area in the state of Hawai‘i includes:

Maili Elementary, Kahaluu Elementary each awarded $25,000 Target grant

Maili Elementary, Kahaluu Elementary each awarded $25,000 Target grant

The following information is provided by the Department of Education:

Maili Elementary and Kahaluu Elementary each were awarded a $25,000 grant today from Target Corp. to invest in programs to raise student achievement.

At separate check presentations at their schools, Maili Elementary Principal Disa Hauge and Kahaluu Elementary Principal Naomi Matsuzaki said the funds would be strategically used to support staff and improve academic performance. Both K-6 campuses are celebrating increased reading and math test scores on the 2012 Hawaii State Assessment.

They are among 25 schools nationwide that Target announced earlier this month would be receiving "Give With Target" grants. The company plans to distribute a total of $2.5 million to 100 in-need schools in time for the start of the new school year.

The Hawaii State Department of Education will accept two grants from Target Corp. to benefit Maili Elementary and Kahaluu Elementary in separate ceremonies at each school on Tuesday, August 28.
